Laszlo and Lexi at the Bastrop County Audubon Society’s “Little Hike”

We had a great turnout on the Bastrop County Audubon Society’s (BCAS) “Little Hike” on April 11, 2025 morning. While we waited to the birders, we watched the birds at the Colorado River City Park parking, then slowly walked to the River, then on the Morrison loop trail. We saw and enjoyed so many birds in that area, so we did not go farther on the Colorado River Refuge Cottonwoods trail. I think, we saw more than 41 bird species this morning. The highlights were the Cedar Waxwings, the Pileated Woodpeckers in flight and the wild turkeys, but for me, not just the birds, but the smell and sound of the Colorado River and the friendly birders group.
