Laszlo led Part 2 of his Texas Wildflower Photography workshop for Houston Center for Photography (HCP) at Washington on the Brazos State Park and nearby backroads on April 8, 2017. His group met at Washington on the Brazos State Park Parking, then they walked together on the trails, photographing mostly back-lit or side-lit wildflowers, capturing the beauty of the color and texture of these fragile plants. Unfortunately, the wildflower trail at the far end of the Park was closed because of the previous year’s and this year’s flood damage. Early morning we got nice dew-covered images in soft light, but later, the wind got up and caused some challenges. We drove on the backroads to Old Baylor Park at independence and found much fewer blooms as in previous years. However, all of the participants had a good time and photographed nice images. Part 1 was on April 4 and Part 3 (discussion and critique meeting) will be on April 18 at HCP.
Enjoy a few of Laszlo’s images taken yesterday, photographing together with his group.
After the morning workshop, Laszlo had to rush through heavy Festival traffic and many road constructions to Brazos Bend State Park, where he led his free “Through the Lens” photography walk from 5 PM – 7 PM. They looked for wildflowers, but they found only a few in bloom. They looked around Old Horseshoe Lake. Attached few images taken by Laszlo on that afternoon.
Comments from e-mails and FaceBook:
- Thanks Laszlo. I had a marvelous time yesterday. I have had a little trouble whittling it down to 15, but then I saw your pictures….they are amazing! But then, that’s why YOU are the one giving the workshop. Looking forward to part 3. See you then. Geoff (Geoffrey Wheeler, HCP Wildflower workshop participant).
