The Houston Photographic Society’s Year-end Competition award ceremony was held at the Tracy Gee Community Center in Houston TX on January 8, 2019. The Year-end competition, juried by three distinguished professional photographers: Kathy Adams Clark, Bob Warren, and Michael Heart. The winning images were announced, discussed by the jurors, and awards were given to the photographers. All the winners had a chance to talk about their images. Laszlo received 3rd Place in the Black and White category for his “Gull Point Graas” image, photographed with his Linhof Master Technika 4×5 large format camera on black and white negative film at Yellowstone National Park, WY.

Looking for graphic-like images in the natural environment for my new “Combed” portfolio, I found this wind and water combed reeds laying to the shallow muddy water. I photographed this River delta-like structure of reeds on large format b&w negative film.
Looking for something simple and quiet on the lively, hectic, busy people-filled streets of New York City, I found interesting this yellow gold-like black color painted closed store safety shutter. I just relaxed when I clicked the shutter and made my carefully composed photograph.
